An example cockpit drill
- The handbrake is on, gear lever in neutral.
- The seat, Mirrors and Head Restraint are adjusted to my satisfaction.
- I am familiar with all the controls and instruments of this vehicle.
- I am switching on the ignition – all warning lights are illuminated and I have sufficient fuel for the journey (or the fuel gauge is rising).
- Depressing the clutch and starting the engine – all warning lights have gone off, except the handbrake.
- Fastening Seatbelt and checking that doors are closed. Will passengers please do theirs!
- Selecting first gear – looking all around the vehicle and moving off when it is safe to do so.
